AIB UK&I is hosting its sixth Speed-Mentoring Event for Women in AIB at the 51st AIB-UKI Conference at Surrey Business School, University of Surrey, on April 24-26, 2025.

Chair(s):
  • Prof Elisabeth Rose (Indian Institute of Management Udaipur, India)
  • Dr Roseline Wanjiru (Northumbria University, UK)
  • Dr Denanjalee Gunaratne (LUT University, Finland)

The aim is to provide a supportive platform for junior faculty, early career researchers and doctoral students to engage in one-on-one interactions with senior women academic mentors through a series of focused conversations about career-related issues.

This year, the Speed-Mentoring Session will kick off with a Panel. The panel is open to anyone. If you want to stay on for the one-on-one mentor-mentee conversation, please sign up so that we can plan better (walk-ins are welcome, but registered mentees will be prioritised should we be over-subscribed).

Panel Title: The Career You Want, The CV That Gets You There
This Women in AIB (WAIB) panel serves as the opening session for WAIB’s signature Speed Mentoring event. Featuring insights from accomplished academics, the panel offers a candid and personal look at the career journeys of its members. Each panellist will reflect on the milestones, decisions, and strategies that shaped their career paths, including how they tailored their CVs to align with their goals. The discussion will cover a variety of topics, such as publication strategies, leadership roles, and making an impact in academia. Participants will have the opportunity to engage further during informal discussions over coffee and through one-on-one conversations in the speed mentoring session. This session provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable perspectives and practical advice from experienced mentors.

Moderator:
  • Prof Noemi Sinkovics (Newcastle University, UK), Vice President WAIB
Panellist(s):
  • Prof Esther Tippmann (University of Galway)
  • Prof Ursula Ott (Nottingham Trent University)
  • Prof Vassiliki Bamiatzi (University of Sussex)
